My commitment to natural medicine and nutrition is at the heart of everything I do. With more than two decades of hands-on experience, I have dedicated myself to helping patients seek a renewed life, full of restored function and good health. I am passionate about the whole client, not just symptoms or temporary solutions, my practice embodies a compassionate yet professional environment for acupuncture and natural health services.
What started as an internship at the age of 19 ultimately changed the trajectory of my life and my career, helping me land where I am today. On a detour that led me to working with a native elder, I spent the first two years of my career witnessing remarkable healing occur with the use of natural medicine. It was during this time that I learned that everything is energetically interconnected, from the physical aches and pains we experience in our body to the emotional aches and pains we experience in our hearts. Harnessing that knowledge, I sought to educate myself in multiple wellness techniques. With more than 5,000 hours of training in eastern and western modalities and 20 years of experience, my work and my clients are my passion. In 2004, I founded my own natural wellness business in Aspen and my roots grow deeper here every year.
In my spare time, you might find me off the grid hiking, paddle boarding, skinning, or photographing beautiful sites. I enjoy experimenting in my kitchen with healthy gourmet treats and meals or making reservations at a fine restaurant. When I’m not in the outdoors or in my kitchen I am likely checking more places off my ever-growing bucket list – from hiking Kilimanjaro to viewing Kodiak bears in their natural habitat. I love being in nature and viewing this wild life all around me. When I push myself to the outer limits of my athletic endeavors, I know the importance of wellness and vibrant living firsthand.
Be inspired. Be well.

I was born and raised in Bulgaria (a beautiful, small country in Europe, at the edge of Europe and Asia). I was an athlete for most of my adolescent life. Since age 15, I was in a specialized sports school (something very specific - a school in which everyone was an athlete, encompassing every Olympic sport). At that time, I was also in the Bulgarian national team for flatwater sprint canoeing. At age 21, I went to a Physical Education college and after graduation, I became a Physical Education teacher.
During my sports days, we constantly had massages - it was an integral part of our practice. While in college we studied the human body extensively - anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, biomechanics and practiced every possible way the body can move. We learned ways of preventing sports injuries and when inevitably, while pushing your body to extremes, injuries do happen, we learned ways of recovering the athlete’s bodies.
Not long after that - probably because of curiosity I emigrated to France and then the US.
One winter 25 years ago I came to Aspen for a season and now, the year 2023 - I am still here.
In Aspen, I went through a massage course (was voted best hands ever) and discovered that I am very good at doing massage. I also practiced Bikram yoga (after having an injury from skiing) – long enough - so that, later I was able to teach yoga to the monks in Plum Village, Bordeaux, France.
The monks since then have been teaching themselves and practicing Bikram yoga. In their words - an amazing concentration practice as well as a magical way to heal, strengthen and balance the body.
During these 25 years, I also managed to graduate with bachelor’s degrees in molecular and marine biology at the University of California Santa Cruz - a beautiful place, and the University of Queensland, Australia, and spend some time at the marine biology research station at Heron Island in the Great Barrier reef. The research station was right in front of a huge lagoon, filled with enormous varieties of marine life, three meters deep and 80 degrees – the best research project ever.
I did come back to Aspen for the winters to ski and work – putting myself – through school.
Seems that beautiful places make life more pleasant.
In Bulgaria I lived in the most beautiful town - Plovdiv (the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe), then Paris, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Brisbane, and Aspen.
Life has been an interesting journey,
Nikolai LMT

As a Licensed Sports Massage Therapist here in Aspen, I have an immense passion and
respect for the Health and Wellness industry. For over 10 years now, I’ve provided Therapeutic
Massage. In 2008, I suffered a major Spinal Cord injury, which revealed that I have a rare
genetic fusion in my neck column. I’m proud to say, it does not hold me back from anything! All
thanks to my journey into the Holistic realm. After two years of physical therapy and help from
my fantastic wellness team, I regained my strength and wanted to learn everything I could about
neck disorders. I wanted to help others with injuries after I was able to heal. I quickly pursued a
Certified Nurse’s Assistant program, and started working in hospital settings. Personal care was
my passion. I worked well with clients that had rare abnormalities. I finally had found my own
strength and my purpose. They taught me how to keep my mind strong, and keep a good sense
of humor while you’re undergoing recovery.
I learned about Musculoskeletal Disorders and Chronic Pain, and since surgery was not an
option for me. My instinct was to keep trying massage and holistic routes. I turned to
Acupressure and Massage for wellness. It helped me so much, in fact, that I pursued it as my
life career. I had new knowledge base and overcame all of my obstacles.
After a few years in a CNA environment, I decided to go to college to further my knowledge for
Massage Therapy and graduated in 2015 at IMTC. (Integrated Massage Therapy College) in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After college, I continued within my private practice to work with
athletes and clients that were mostly in physical therapy or recovering from sports injuries and
major surgeries. I continued in my private practice as well, and went on to teach at Heritage
College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. MT111 Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology were my
lectures. I have worked with well known sports teams and professional athletes from all over
the United States. I am certified in Myoskeletal Alignment, Manual Therapy, Myofascial release, Lymphatic Massage, Advanced Sports work and more. I will always continue to thirst for
knowledge on how we can heal ourselves. The body is an amazing instrument. My heart and
my hands are devoted to your healing journey. I am proud to be a part of this team!

My family and I moved to Colorado when I was 11, so I consider myself a Colorado native. I grew up in the Denver area, then went to Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, CO where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. My interest in massage therapy started when I was in high school. I was a gymnast starting at age 3 and a competitive cheerleader starting at age 12. By the time I was in high school, the wear and tear started to take a toll on my body. I worked with massage therapists and saw chiropractors regularly along with the massage therapist who worked in my chiropractor’s office. Their knowledge of how the human body functions is fascinating to me. In college, I was known in my friend group for giving great shoulder rubs, especially during high-stress times. It brings me great joy to be able to help someone relax, slow down, and take a deep breath as some days it’s easy to get caught up in the challenges of life. I told my friends in college that I would go to massage school one day and learn therapeutic massage. It was only 3 years after I graduated that I went to massage therapy school to finally get licensed!
I am extremely passionate about health and fitness. I find a way to be active every day and have grown to love the lifestyle. In my opinion, one of the most important factors to true health is recognizing the mind-body connection. It is truly so powerful when the mind and body can align. It is my goal, through massage therapy, to help individuals strengthen this connection for an exquisite way of life.
